Good battery. New alternator less than a year ago.

Without a specific model and engine size it's difficult to know exactly what is going on here. It is usually an indication the alternator has failed. It's safe to drive as far as doing any engine damage, but the battery will eventually die leaving you stranded if the alternator isn't charging.
