Why did check engine (P0016 code ) come up after replacement of one of the camshafts?

The engine failed to start.  So one of the camshaft was replaced and the car started. The following day when the engine was started after a while check engine and vsc  lights camemail up.  Scanning showed P0016 . The sensor was changed and timing adjusted but the light always come back after being erased.

Your timing belt off a tooth, P0016 is a caused due to a mechanical condition, A new timing belt has installation  marks for both the camshaft pulley and the crankshaft ,
