2006 chrysler 300c Hemi 5.7 has 2 codes p0700 and U0100 and engine stall

Question

Dealership replaced TCM and ECM, reprogramed, cleared codes, flashed computer, cleaned connections, cleaned and reconnected grounds. Car drove fine for a week with no codes at all but after driving a little over 100 miles same codes reappeared and engine intermittently stalls but then starts right up. I tried octane booster, and fuel injector cleaner but same codes still keep reappearing. Chrysler diagnosed the cause as a faulty TCM and then a week later said it was the PCM. Both were replaced but still stuck with the same codes and Chrysler just wants to keep on replacing parts at my cost which doesn't seem to solve this issue! If anyone has any information on how to solve this problem once and for all please, please let me know! Car only has 40,000 miles on it! Thanks!

P0700 Transmission fault detected MIL light requested

U0100 Lost communication with PCM

These 2 code may have been set when the engine stalled, U0100 will set when the RPM is less than 850 rpm, P0700 the key on engine stalled, this will set a P0700, To track a condition as stalling, keep track of certain events, See if this TSB fits any of your events

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience an engine stall condition just after filling the fue   tank.

The integral multi-functional control valve may allow liquid fuel to enter the evaorativee emission system causing a rich fuel condition when the purge system is initiated..

DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

Hey Reynaldo! Chrysler finally replaced the fuel tank and car ran perfect for a day. Then after I parked it for the night and started it up in the morning. Would you believe it stalled again! It immediately started right back up and ran fine for the rest of the day. It was the weekend and I couldn't contact Chrysler to let them know that the car is still stalling. When it stalled the first few times there were no codes. But the same codes PO700 and UO100 came up again over the weekend and car still intermittently stalls. This problem is driving me insane! Chrysler replaced the TCM, the PCM, the fuel tank, reprogrammed the PCM and TCM cleaned all the connecters, tightened the engine grounds, and still the same issue. I even had the fuel pump replaced with an aftermarket one like you said. Car still stalls! What in the world will solve this problem once and for all?

Thank you so much Reynaldo for you quick response! Yes the engine does stall immediately after filling up the gas tank. I had just purchased the vehicle about 2 weeks ago. I went to the gas station and filled up the tank, the nozzle automatically shut off and after I had started the car and began driving away it immediately stalled. It took several times to restart but as I drove it stalled less often. Now I have been making sure not to fill up the tank but it still stalls no matter how much gas is in the tank. It is a 19 gallon tank like you said in your response. The engine light goes out on it's own occasionally and the car will run perfect. Then out of nowhere it will stall and the engine light comes back on. When I use a scanning tool the same codes are repeated P0700 and U0100. I do believe that the original fuel tank is in the vehicle and never been replaced. Do you believe that the fuel tank is the cause of this problem and by replacing it with the revised X53 tank will solve the problem? If so then is the tank covered under warranty and is Chrysler responsible? They should have known this is the cause of the stalling issue  instead of replacing unnecessary parts and not solving the stalling issue and charging thousands of dollars in diagnostic fees, parts, time and labor! Is the repair procedure to replace the fuel tank as well as the fuel pump? Thanks again!

Here the complete TSB, the fuel tank has a lifetime warranty for being the cause, as for the fuel pump , this is not considered the cause, you may be able to get that separate,

I can't thank you enough Reynaldo! I have set up an appointment with my local Chrysler Dealership and they have agreed to replace the fuel tank and also the airbags due to safety hazard recalls on them! I took the day off of work, brought the car to be serviced first thing in the morning to Chrysler dealership and all they did was replace the drivers side air bag and reset the codes even though they had agreed to replace the fuel tank! I told them about the stalling issue and they said that they would have to perform additional diagnostic tests that I am responsible to pay to find out if my vehicle has a faulty fuel tank. They also said that if the fuel tank was faulty there would be no engine codes and the engine would only stall after filling up with too much gas. They are full of it! After leaving the dealership and driving a few hours the same codes PO700 and UO100 came back and the car kept stalling. I was back to the same issue. Customer service confirmed over the phone by my VIN number that my vehicle is one that was manufactured with the faulty fuel tank. The dealership already got paid for 2 diagnostic fees and said the TCM was faulty then the ECM was faulty. They replaced both that cost thousands and reprogrammed the throttle body and ECM. A few days later the same issue came back. Car stalls even more often now. All they are doing is trying to rip people off and tell them the problem is caused by something else. I keep on fighting with them but nothing has been resolved. Would you have any suggestions on how to handle this?

If the ECM was faulty it would set a code. it monitor itself, so does the TCM. it is setting a code but this is a rational code, what happens is in the fuel pump there is a strainer that tends to rip apart. Even if you hear the fuel pump there is no fuel getting to the engine it only gets worse, I see this In the Nevada area where the temperature is 120 F. and only in that area does the strainer fall apart, In Arizona same situation. I dont not care how good a Tech is when it comes to U0100 and P0700 every one in the shop or dealership does not know what the problem is. They charge a diagnostic and its all guess work. You can not diagnose a U0100. Only experience and shared information can find this. When Chrysler build the Mini Van .it bought there way out of bankruptcy until they found out there was a problem with the transmission solenoids, it was causing the transmission to go into self destruction. Because its build by robots and a million pieces where already installed ,and the disagreement between the white and blue color workers their  solution was " because the public like our product they are responsible for the upgrade". Everything swept under the rug, Most shop at this time bought reprogrammers and the majority refused to buy any reprogramming for the Chrysler product, their reason , Chrysler does not have a home. Bought by Fiat then dropped, Bought by MBZ then dropped. As a lone inspector for the State of California going From San Diego to Sacramento visiting all the dealership on a day to day program to report the export or the import of the vehicles, with a minimum of 1200 vehicle inspection a week and a report   of all make and model in the state, what was seen was there was a pattern failure. Most of what was seen was Chrysler product TCM destroyed the transmission these where vehicle with just 25,000 mile on it, the contributing source was the alternator charging system where a/c ripples sent damaging current to the TCM and ECM. You need to also remember in 2007. vehicle manufactuer are protected from bankruptcy and you as the buyer because you like the product have to pay to keep up the maintance. There a lot of know problem and solution but its the public buyer that gets to pay for the repair, When there is a Issued Recall guess what it all been figured on how many and what will be repaired. its all secrets. Its already been negotiated. Stop going after the ECM as being the problem because its not, Its not the throttle body either, just keep the repair simple it fuel pump strainer and do not go with dealer brand its the after market that improved the product, This reminds me of a Ford product same account there the Ford Explorer kept developing a head gasket problem, when confronted because they had 1 million headgasket  already made it was planned to just replace the headgasket, Ford refused to improve the head gasket from its plant and kept using the same inferior head gasket. It was Fel pro that said we have the improved head gasket it built with a armor that will prevent any problem with the head gasket. Once you as the buyer install a aftermarket product the warranty is over. Trust me I meet people with 25,000 mile on a new vehicle (different Brand)  I monitor the conversation with customer service and listen to the run around and excuses, the BAR the consumer protection agency are not going to budge. This is why I believe information to the public has to be kept free .
