got a PO753 in malibu maxx

im just starting to trouble shoot this issue, but in order to change shift solenoids in a 2005 chevy malibu maxx 3.5 how do i change the shift solenoids? do i have to drop the transmission?

This code is for the 1-2 shift solenoid. Many times the issue is low or dirty transmission fluid. You will have to drop the pan, but most of the shift solenoids are bolted to the valve body. Here is some more info on the code
