The check engine light producing the code P1349 is constantly on in my 2001 Corolla. The car has to pass inspection and won't if the light is on. How do I fix it or what do you suggest? I don't have much money for this.
Vehicle: 2001 Toyota Corolla sport 4 cyl

Hi there,

This code is part of the variable valve timing on the car. There are a few components that can cause the code. The first thing to check is the engine oil level. If the oil level is low, then it won't advance the timing as it should. If the oil level is good, then it could be the vvt solenoid, the cam position sensor, the oil control valve or the engine timing causing the code. Each of these has to be inspected to determine the cause.
