Im having to step on the accelerator to start the vehicle when the ignition should be enough to start it.

Vehicle: 2000, ford, explorer xlt, soh 4.0 six cylinders

HI there,

This could be the result of a dirty throttle body, mass air flow sensor or low fuel pressure. Each of these would need to be checked. Sometimes just cleaning the throttle body can resolve this type of issue.
