code B2799 Toyota Rav 4 2007

Question

I have this code and I have the key without the chip and the key was working without the chip but today I couldnt start it and this code start. The engine works but I couldn't start the car. I think the problem is because I don't have the chip into the key but the car was working without it since one month ago.

This code is for the immobilizer and is likely being caused by the key. Other parts of the system can fail as well and that may be why it was working without a chip.
