Can p1705 code be dangerous?

P1705 Short in the A/T gear  position switch wire    /Faulty  A/T gear position switch

Yes it can be dangerous if the mechanical selector is disconnected, If its just the gear position switch that faulty, it will give erratic idle. and in some remote case the vehicle may not start.
