I have a 1705 code 98 Nissan Altima will this cause slipping when trans shifts from second to third gear,and third to overdrive,if I shut the overdrive off when it happens it goes into gear like it should,also if I let off the throttle when it happens it will also shift better on a special note this car does have 173,000 miles on it also one time pulling a.steep grade I shut off overdrive after that I did notice the trans acting up. No engine light on,but I did scan it,I got the tps code and a knock sensor code,any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi there,

The code is for the throttle position sensor. To answer your question yes, this can affect the transmissions shifting quite a bit. It uses signals from the tps to determine what gear the car should be in, so if it doesn't get the signal or is getting the wrong signal from the TPS it is going to affect the shift patterns from the transmission.
