I have the P0700 on my car and the speedometer shows 20 mph standing still in drive, what is the problem?

Hi there,

On most vehicles the P0700 code means the transmission control module requested the check engine light to come on. This means the transmission control module has a code stored in it and needs to be read. An OBDII code reader will not work for this in most cases. A scan tool is required to get into the tcm. Since the speedo is stuck at 20mph it may be an indication of a problem with the speed sensor or speed sensor wiring. This would vary from vehicle to vehicle.
