How can I test the control Solenoid valve assembly on my 2013 GMC Sierra1500 5.3L?

Dear Sir,

How can I test the control solenoid valve assembly to see if it is damaged and I really need to replace it, or it is just required some cleaning?

For this you clear the code , You need to test the transmission line pressure test, and drive at the speed where P0796 can be duplicated. Having  higher than normal pressure , or a lower pressure test. You have to have a normal pressure test, then you can suspect the solenoid being at fault, To test the solenoid there is a air pressure test that has to be perfomed, A pressure test gauge is used to measure the solenoid as they are on and off,
