1996 Nissan Maxima Can the canister purge value cause the car to cut off

The car runs but I took it to auto advance ND they gave me the code for a canister purge value and I was wondering if dat makes the car cuts off

Usually this will not cause this type of issue. The code is for a large evap leak. This could be as simple as a loose gas cap or more commonly on Nissan a sticking vent control valve.
