I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. The car is in excellent condition and the motor has all power possible. I do not have a problem with loss of power or oil pressure. Previous owner connected a new connector to the oil pressure sensor. He had the wires Twisted together not solder. Second, I'm not sure he has the color codes correct. Coming from the Grand Prix is a black wire, a darker brown wire and a lighter brown wire with a a very faint yellow stripe. I keep hearing that it's supposed to be a black wire, a gray wire and a brown wire. Then the aftermarket connector has a blue wire, a gray wire, and a black wire, I contacted the aftermarket connector and they told me that black should be connected to black the gray wire connected to the brown wire that produces 5 amps and the blue wire connected to the other brown wire. I have validated all of this and connected the wires but again only twisting them with black electrical tape. I do not want to solder them has I am still not convinced that's the right pattern. I have also changed the oil pressure sensor and have used a ACDelco sensor that I purchased on eBay. I have also changed the screen. There was no debris in the old screen but the old sensor had a lot of debris. I cleaned out the port and removed all excess debris . I have done 2 oil changes in under 1500 miles. I have ensured that the oil is clean using a 5W30 Pennzoil semi synthetic second time around. When I leave the house I'll drive to my destination which is approximately 20 miles. I will shut the car off and go back to it 10-15 minutes later and start it up and drive again. If I keep this routine of the light is guaranteed to come on on the second or third attempt of driving. I'm really lost at this point and want to check the connection going to the PCM so I can check for continuity but I don't know which connector and which pin to check. Could you possibly help me please. Thank you.
P0521 Engine oil pressure sensor performance
The way this sensor works , when the engine is increased it increases oil pressure, when the oil pressure is high , it make the EOP sensor high in voltage. when P0521 is set it means there is no EOP sensor change. Here a wire connection use this make the connection
