1995 Nissan Sentra speedometer is working but have P0500

I have a 1995 Nissan Sentra that has a P0500 code. The speedometer is working correctly and there are no issues with shifting properly. How can I troubleshoot the problem?

This usually means the speedometer has stopped sending signal to the computer. The way these work is the speed sensor in the transmission sends signal to the speedometer, then from the speedometer to the computer.
