My BMW starts and then shuts off after a few mins.what could it be?

My BMW just out of nowhere turned off on me on the freeway and I had to have it towed. Now it just turns on and runs for a little bit and then just cuts off. I am stuck on figuring this out. Can someone please help me out with this Problem I have?

The only way this can do this is if it is fuel related , the reason I say fuel related, there is 2 fuel pump in the tank  both you can access from under the seat. there a fuel pump return , there a o-ring that pop out this tends to starve the fuel pump for the engine. then there is the fuel pump itself, which is more than likely the problem. but make sure
