My 2014 Camry is showing code P0500. Older Toyotas had a speed sensor on the transmission. This one does not appear to have a speed sensor on the transmission. There are sensors on both front wheels for the ABS system and traction control. If one of these goes out will it set the code and cause problems with the traction control?

Hi there

It uses all of the speed sensors on the wheels to give the computer and speedometer the readings. If one has gone bad it can affect the car and give you this code. Also if there is a communication error between the modules it can cause the code. Finally, if the instrument cluster has failed it will cause the code. Easiest was to diagnose this is with a scan tool that can read the abs module and watch all the speed sensors.
