Most vehicles have a speed sensor on each wheel. The sensors are part of the Antilock Brake System (ABS), which monitor the speed of each wheel. The ABS will receive the signal from each speed sensor and determines how much braking force should be applied in order to avoid locking of the brake system during hard braking.
