will smog test cause pdm to fail with u1000 code

Question

Needed to smog 2006 nissan titan. Went to smog station when connector was plugged into obd port dash lite up like x mas tree. Took car to dealer they fixed it with pdms module. Took back to smog and it did it again have you ever heard of a smog check taking out that pdms the code that kept coming up was u1000

Not a smog check station, but I have seen some scanner damaging control modules, even the Nissan CONSULT sometimes blows fuses.
