I jsut had the upper cat and the cam positioning sensor replaced? Could this have caused the code?

Vehicle: 2002 Nissan Sentra 2.5ltr

Is not likely that changing the sensor and cat could have caused the U1000 code. It's more than likely that the caused is a poor ground. There is a service bulletin for that problem.

This indicates an inhibit circuit=limp mode.There is no sound communication between the Engine ECU and Transmission ECU affecting feedback signals between the two to give he appropriate reference signals to drive.This is caused but not limited to poor earths,blown fuses,loose connections,poor pin contacts and the transmission ecu or engine ecu-these 2 must be healthy to communicate
