I replaced my pistons on my 2007 cobalt after the engine overheated. There were holes in 3 of them, so I replaced them all. I put the engine back in and I thought all went relatively well. Now I keep getting the code P0340 on the scan tool. I replaced the camshaft position sensor, still no start. The car started for a few minutes about a day ago. I have no idea why it started because I hadn't even replaced the cam sensor yet.

If anyone can help me find the solution I would appreciate it. I have been working on this for 3 days now. I absolutely have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there

I would start with a compression check and if the engine has low compression check the timing. If the timing is off then the code for the cam sensor would be there even with the new sensor. If the timing is on, then I would check the wiring for the cam sensor, it is possible you have a pinched wire since the engine was out of the car.
