shop just replaced timing belt, now warning light came on.

Took vehicle in for a timing belt replacement.drove vehicle home then check engine light came on with a P00016 code,

This can be an indication of the timing belt being off a tooth or two. It's also possible the engine oil is low or dirty or there is a problem with the variable timing control solenoid. This uses oil pressure to operate.
