This code is straight forward , these are always the PCM that cause the charging failure.

Can I hook up an X ternal regulator box to bypass that instead of buying a whole new computer

There is no regulator it in the PCM , this one of the biggest problem about Chrysler. they have a old style analog charging system mixed with a digital control charging system , the charging system create a magnetic flux a good battery should be able to ground the flux, but still there is a/c ripples that the charging system creates and it does nothing but kill the PCM. Chyslers they go in and out of business Fiat bought them one time then drop them MBZ bought them ,then drop them , The PCM is available at a after market part store , they can even flash the VIN for you . Repair shops and parts store loves Chrysler is what keeps then in bussiness
