i have a 2002 ford focus fault code p1289 and my high speed cooling fan is always on

I clear the fault code and after a drive cycle it comes back on and the fan still stays on what could the problem be

Hi there

The most common cause would be the cylinder head temp sensor. If it's reading wrong then the computer is going to try and keep the engine cool. A stuck thermostat, low engine coolant or faulty wiring to the CHT sensor can also cause this problem.
