I have a 2006 2.4 non turbo Chrysler PT Cruiser and 5 mechanics have not been able to figure out the electrical problem, it was stuck in limp mode and engine light was on, no engine codes could be found so we replaced the PCM twice and had it programmed professionally, then the problem was still there so they replaced the engine wiring harness and checked all the sensors, then installed a new battery, car ran perfect for 2 months then a red dot came up under the speedometer and the engine light came on and the car shifted back into limp mode while I was driving, had the codes read again and p0882 came up, still stuck in limp mode, 100k miles but engine and transmission are both fine but it's an electrical problem

Here what make this repair difficult, initially there been problem with the TCM what happen when the first time the transmission went into a limp mode hose with no code stored in the TCM or ECM the fix was to have the ECM reflashed. what occurred was no codes just a limp home mode. Now there is P0882 this is the TCM low input this code is a wiring problem , This type of problem originates in the TIPM.  If possible put the old  PCM back in and reflash it,

SUBJECT:
Flash: No MIL Illumination -Transmission Limp In

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
