P0344 code after replacing timing chain and cam sensor. Van has over 303,000 miles. Runs nice and smooth in idle but begins loping at mid rpms. Autozone and advanced auto both read the same code. Only other code with it was O2 sensor which I replaced. Need some help please. I drive 60 miles one way for my job and I've already been down a week.
P0344 Camshaft position sensor intermittent
A momentary glitch with the crankshaft position sensor can also set a P0344. If the engine is nice and smooth and lops at mid RPMS you can be facing a loss in reference voltage to the camshaft sensor. Such as the EGR shorting the 5 volts refference which affects the TPS ,CKP, and CMP, MAP, sensor.
Here a wire schematic, what share the 5 volt refference to the Camshaft sensor are CKP, MAP.,TP , A/C pressure sensor, if any of these component has a internal short to power it affects the 5 volts and will lop the idle,Because the RPM is affected at mid range, try this test, disconnect the EGR connection and retest. (You would set a EGR circuit high code) if the situation improves replace the EGR.
