03 gti changed the cam shaft position sensor and the engine light comes back on

Next you need to check the physical timing. Make sure the belt hasn't jumped time and is causing the issue. If it's broken and the car won't start you will get this code. If this looks good, then you need to check the wiring from the computer to the cam sensor.
