I googled to find where the sensor is located and I keep getting the same two answers. Its either in the distributor or the oil pump. Which one is it? I have the P1381 code and want to check for any shorts before I continue with any purchases and so on...

The Cylinder Position Sensor (CYP) Sensor it is built into the distributors 

Honda Civic Distributor

There are two possible brands of distributors the 2000 model might have 

Honda Civic Distributor TDC CYP Sensor
