how important is a bad vias solenoid valve

Service Engine Soon light came on my daughter's 2002 Nissan Maxima Se and yielded a P1800 code: VIAS control solenoid valve problem

Not that important. Easy to fix takes maybe 10 mins and you can probably do it yourself. You may notice a slight drop in gas mileage and horsepower under 3800 rpm until it is fixed. The vias solenoid is the cylindrical object under the engine cover with air hoses leading to and from It. Very hard to miss. Not sure how much one is, I'm looking for price as we speak, mines no good as well. Stumbled over this while looking for a place to buy one. Hopefully it's not dealer only...
