My reverse gear is not funcioning

Reverse gear not functioning. What is the cause? I checked out from my mechanic who confirmed it and informed me that the fault is a gear box malfunction probably due to the type of ATF oil I used and gave me a code p1605. What does that mean? What do I do to have the reverse gear to function again. Is the fault from the ATF or it is a mechanical malfunction
