Question

When the engine light went on in my 1996 Accord the dealer said it was my idle air valve, although I was not having any noticeable problem with my idle. Would the engine light go on if the valve just needed cleaning or was clogged?

It is possible the IAC needs cleaning, however this code is for the idle speed higher then expected. What this means is there is a high idle. This can be caused by more then a faulty IAC valve. Sometimes a vacuum leak can cause the problem or some other issue that makes the cars idle higher then normal.
