I took the car to a highly recommended import vehicle mechanic, he said change the oil twice within a couple of months and that will fix it. I changed it and the first guy cleared the light. Light came on the other night along with the rattling under the hood, so I changed oil again, but they didn't clear light. No rattling though--- the OBD still reads "timing over advanced" causes = blocked oil passage, low oil pressure, failed camshaft actuator, mechanical timing issue. Timing belt was replaced before I bought it in June and wouldn't the oil issues be discovered during the changes? i just don't want to damage vehicle/cause more expensive issues. Many people say it's just a sensor?? Should I try this first?

Yes its possible an oil change may fix the issue. You can also do an engine flush before the oil change.
