An exhaust leak can caused many codes, is better if you check with a scanner what the code is so you don't guess what the problem is.

P0731 incorrect gear ratio first

P0731 this can be a internal transmission failure or friction material, 6000 miles this is still a young transmission,Fluid and filter may not help with this condition, internal condition can just be a stuck off shift solenoid,or a non working shift solenoid, As for the exhaust leak, The code you might have is a lean bank code,P0171 or a 02 heater circuit code, rarely are these cause by a minor exhaust leak, As for monitor not completing with these 2 hard codes you will just code up unless corrected.
