2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with code P0700, will a p0700 code prevent the motor (V8) from starting?

It is possible, the code actually only means there is a transmission code present in the tcm. You need to have the transmission control module scanned for codes. IF there is a code stored for the range switch then it's possible the truck won't want to crank and start.
