2008 Buick Lucerne CXL 3.8L. what is wrong with my transmission

My car will not exceed 55 miles an hour in 3rd gear and it won't proceed 35 miles an hour in overdrive you tell me what's wrong it revs up gets high RPMs and stop accelerating

Not as of yet and the car Also sat for 4 years Un touched
