The Check Engine light on my 2006 Honda CRV came on about a week ago. I immediately took the car to an auto parts store to avail myself of a diagnostic scan. The codes that were reported were as follows:

1) P1009: Camshaft stuck in advanced position;

2) P1078: Intake manifold tuning valve long stuck;

3) 83-1 ECM-PCM relation malfunction

The car has not been used since this problem arose while I have been attempting to effect some recommended repairs. Concerning code P1009, I completed a web search and found reasonable, recommended solution: I should attempt to clean both the VTC valve and the VTC solenoid (see, for example, http://nt511.com/video.php?id=YYKikGysXqE). If that is correct, I also would like to request expert assistance with two problems that I am experiencing as I try to see if this simple repair will solve the problem. According to the video, I need to at least remove the serpentine belt, the power steering reservoir and the power steering pump in order to access the VTC valve to remove it. The problem is that the standard belt removal tools available from auto parts stores do not have the clearance to fit onto the nut for the tensioner pulley because some metal tubing traced from the power steering pump is bracketed directly across from the bolt that the tool must attach; the bracket for the tubing is bolted too, but that bolt is even less accessible and makes it impossible to move the metal tubing out of the way. The gap clearance is a little more than an inch. Is there any other tool that can allow me to remove the belt with such a constrained space? I also have another problem, related to the VTC solenoid: the 10 mm bolt that needs to be removed is not budging, even with use of PB Blaster Penetrant.

As for the remaining codes, I have not yet gotten to the point where I have found a recommended repair. I certainly don't know if these codes are related, or if they represent independent problems. I especially don't yet know if I can complete any simple tests or repairs myself, or if I really do need to bring this into a shop for repairs.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.
