My crv 2002 gives en error code po128. It just started recently so I took it to a mechanic. He said it was the thermostat and when we checked it wasn't there. So he said its the gasket that we would have to change it. I'm really worried cause the engine gets hot under seconds after ignition. The temperature meter bar doesn't go above half though but I feel the heat sometimes while driving. Please can someone explain this to me. Could it really be the gasket?

Vehicle: 2002, Honda,accord crv 2.4l

Hi there

This does indicate an issue with the head gasket. The thermostat is probably missing because of the vehicle overheating with it in. Hot exhaust getting into the cooling system will cause it to overheat very fast.
