2008 Nissan Xterra the solenoid on the evaporator canister is not working. When I directly hook it to twelve volts it works fine, but the wires leading to it I believe should be 12 volts. Which should activate it when the ignition is on. I am only receiving 9-10 volts and is not activating the solenoid. Would a new one work at this voltage or do I need to look at the computer.

Vehicle: 2008, Nissan, Xterra 4.0 ltr

HI there

It should have 12 volts on one wire only, then when the computer grounds the solenoid on the signal line it closes the vent control valve. If you are only seeing 9-10 volts that indicates a problem in the wiring harness out to the solenoid. If the solenoid works manually, then you need to check your wiring. Putting a new solenoid in isn't going to help.
