Could a loose fitting camshaft position sensor cause a PO 420 error code ?

I recently replaced my Bank one camshaft position sensor with an OEM Infinity part but I noticed it did not fit as snug as the one I was taking out. I wondering now if that's causing an issue since the PO420 code never came on before, or at least not in the last couple of months, the time I've actually owned the vehicle.

Yes it can, there are counter for the camshaft position sensor as with all sensor, if a sensor exceed or does not meet the criteria that is set for turning on the CK ENG LT for that sensor. The whole purpose of the CK ENG LT is to look for open circuit short circuit, grounded and rationality.
