Hello I have a 2006 Chevy Equinox 4X2 3.4. I am getting the code P0455. I found the canister was hit and knocked the cap off of the end. So I replaced it with the updated version and jumper harness. I am still getting the code. So I bought a smoke machine and checked it with that. I found that when it is cold. The canister vent valve is open and venting. Do you know when the valve is supposed to be closed? I checked for power at the valve. It has 12 volts. But no ground. I back probed the ground wire at the PCM and the valve closes.

HI there,

The canister vent valve only closes when the car does a self test on the evap system. It checks to make sure the evap is working by pulling a vacuum in the system.I would check the purge control solenoid valve as a possible cause for the code. If it's sticking open it's venting into the intake and you wouldn't see it.
