Driving to work and engine light came on. Nothing unusual noticed. The next day driving to work again the transmission started slipping at highway speed. Stopped and checked fluid and it was full, added a bottle of lucus and did not slip as bad. On the way home transmission temp light came on. I checked the codes and got p0700,p0735,and p0740. I cleared the codes to see if lucus helped and test drove. No slipping noticed, but p0700 and p0740 codes came back. Trying to drive to repair shop the next day and transmission temp light came back on and smoke was coming from dipstick tube. Shut the truck off and let it cool and limped back home slow. Drained transmission fluid and nothing unusual found in the pan. I did just replace the torque converter 6 months ago and new fluid and filters.
HI there
The P0700 code is just an info code. Basically it means the TCM has asked the ECM to turn on the check engine light. The P0740 code is for the torque converter solenoid. It's possible the new converter has failed or an electrical issue is locking it on.
