2000 mercedes e320 p0720 not shifting out 1st gear

Mercedes not shifting out of first gear and the only code that pops up is P0720 all of the sudden one morning it just didn't want to shift

This code is for the output shaft speed sensor on the transmission. This could be as simple as replacing the sensor. This will cause shifting issues as well. It is possible there is a wiring issue to the sensor and an internal issue with the transmission, but I would start with the sensor. Here is some more info on the code.
