P1743 code after replacing cv axle, no overdrive

Question

There is a grinding noise at higher speeds, then vehicle won't shift into overdrive and D light flashes. Replaced the cv axle do to faulty joint, vehicle was grinding slightly before when letting off accelerator. Now it grinds one time and then won't allow into overdrive!
