When should I service based on light code P0128

Question

Saturn code calls for service of the temperature sensor and the thermostat. How can I tell if this is serious or not.

P0128 how serious , well this would affect the transmission performance just to have the code set, if you notice there is a bump when it changes gears, if you clear the code the transmission would shift more quietly, until the code is set.
