what cause a Transmission Solenoid to go into limp mode?

i have a 2005 2.4L dodge stratus change transmission solenoid twice because it goes into limp mode, could something else cause it to go into limp mode

The transmission range switch if it is faulty can make you go into a fail safe, the input shft speed sensor will do the same. These 2 component will lock the transmission in 3rd gear as a fail safe measure. and the N light would flash, what are the code that is setting?
