why silver metal flakes on cam solenoid center screen

Question

Pulled valve cover and cam solenoids. Found center screen on each solenoid blocked by fibrous gunk w/ silver flakes embedded.

silver flakes that may come from the beaing, at idle idle and if you snap accelerate is there any lound clanking noise? Hopefully there is no engine problem, you may be able to reuse the camshaft solenoid actuator, but replace the oil filter It must be A/C Delco that is used this is required.
