p0851 on 08 chevy 1500

Question

vehicle wont crank, p0851 code shows. cant find evidence of short in harness. replaced PNP, problem persists. clear code=vehicle starts( until shut off) then fault persists

The shift cables or the gear selector on this vehicle are 2 piece, if it failing it would set this code Also if you have a scan tool data the TP should not be 10 percent from each other . depending on the type of transmission that you have  This code is internal of the ECM. check the fuse listed as TRANS IGN 1,
