i have a 2004 honda accord with a 2.v liter i-VTEC engine. i changed the oil control solenoid and reset the code and it comes back on. the oil was just changed 100 miles ago. it says it is stuck in advanced mode. the engine is a very rough idle and stals however above 1500 rpm it seems to run ok. i unplug the solenoid and it seems to run a little better but still misses. what else could be causeing this since i already changed the solenoid? the solenoid part number is a dorman 917-277

The VTC has a strainer, you may have to access it and check to see if its plugged. , this is the easy part, For P1009 the causes are the VTC solenoid, the VTC strainer, and last is the VTC actuator. The actuator are the least of problem with P1009. especially since you have a rough idle it pointing into that direction. Do the VTC strainer cleaning. and check the oil passage.
