I was going to install a remote starter and I cut into the orange wire at the ignition switch and accidentally touched the frame and I got a spark then the check engine light came on. I used my OBD tool and got a code of P0340. So I cleared the code and cranked the car up again and the check engine light came back on so I cut the car off checked the code again and this time the code came up as P0343. I have checked all the relays and the test light comes on when I ground 85 and power to 86 and 30, so I ground the test light and touch 87 and the light comes on each relay. Is there another way to check relays to see if they are putting out the right ohms or does that matter ? I check the fuses with a test light and also an ohm meter and they test good. Can I drive the car with the P0343 code ? I will not worry about installing the remote starter I just want to drive the car without it causing more problems. What do I do now or what should I look for now ?

P0343 Camshaft position sensor circuit high input

You should be able to reach into the camshaft position sensor connection reach in there see if you can push the plug connection in. Again about the orange wire there is no way you set this code it may have been set. That orange wire if grounded you open fuse. I have a Corvette and installing alarm the  orange wire shorted out , it blew open the fuse, but never set a P0343 or P0340. circuit high code are disconnection code what happens is the ECM gives power and see no return in signal and set the code. That is the job of the ECM is to look for open circuit short circuit and grounds. A circuit high is a open or disconnected connection. You may of had this code pending anyway and just be unrelated, You can drive with code
