Long cranking time on my 05 nissan sentra--anybody?

Hi there

Extending cranking typically either means you have a bad crank position sensor or a fuel pump issue. If the check engine light was on prior to it turning off completely then I would suspect the crank sensor. If not, then the issue is likely the fuel pump.

There is a recall on the fuel pump sending unit. I have similar problems on occasion  so I turn the ignition  to the  on position  wait a few seconds then turn it back off and wait about 10 seconds and then start it. That way it builds enough fuel pressure and starts right up every time. I need to replace fuel pump but for now this gets me by. When you turn your ignition to on can you hear the fuel being Sprayed into the injectors?
