2005 Dodge Stratus 2.4 engine near zero emissions need Cat Converter

Question

Was told need code for cat. Hood has been replaced so don't have code.  The mech. said only orig. equip. can be installed.
Is this true?

This really depends on the state you live in. California doesn't allow aftermarket parts, most other states will allow them.
